| CMP Asia awarded a "Caring Company" | |||
CMP Asia, the leading trade fair organiser in the region, is awarded a "Caring Company" by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. It is the only exhibition organiser that has been given this recognition. The award was received by Michael Duck, Senior Vice President of CMP Asia yesterday (5 December 2002) at the Caring Company Award Presentation Ceremony officiated by The Honourable Donald Tsang, Acting Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. CMP Asia has been working closely with the Association for Engineering and Medical Volunteer Services in providing training and work opportunities, such as data entry for the Association's service users, including ex-mentally ill and physically handicapped persons. Michael Duck said: "We are of course very honoured to have fulfilled the requirements of being a Caring Company. Everyone in the society should be treated equal and offered the same opportunity. Working with the Association for Engineering and Medical Volunteer Services, we are pleased to learn from the association that the confidence and self-esteem of their service users have been increased. We hope that companies will take a more active role in the community." This is the very first time that the Council organised the Caring Company Scheme. The mission of the scheme is to build a caring community spirit through cultivating corporate citizenship and strategic partnership between the business and social service sectors. Caring companies should demonstrate good corporate citizenship in at least any two of the following six areas: 1. Volunteering: Encourage and support employee volunteering 2. Family Friendly: Provide family friendly environment for employees and being gender sensitive 3. Employing Vulnerable: Willing to employ vulnerable groups 4. Partnering: Develop partnership projects with the social service sector 5. Mentoring: Share business expertise with the social service organisations 6. Giving: Donate or in kind giving to the community. -Ends- Owned by United Business Media plc, CMP Asia is the largest independent trade fair organizer in the region and a provider of business-to-business information, through its publications and websites.
