UBM Sinoexpo and UBM Built Environment announce the launch of Ecobuild China at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from 9-12 April 2012. Ecobuild China will run alongside UBM’s existing show Expo Build China.

Ecobuild China will have a strong focus on educational content including a high-level conference, networking opportunities for delegates and an exhibition showcasing the latest product innovations. The event will provide participants with a gateway into the rapidly-growing Chinese market for sustainable development.

China is already the world’s largest construction market and is forecast to expand from $1,200bn in 2011 to $1,700bn in 2015. The sustainable construction market is forecast to grow at 38% CAGR to $90bn by 2015. (Source: Global construction 2020).

Visitor groups expected to attend Ecobuild China include real estate developers, architects & designers, main contractors, engineers, green consultants, local & national government and clients and investors as well as construction professionals and installers.

Visitors will learn what the Chinese government’s ambitious energy efficiency improvement targets and commitments to green building construction will mean for the design and construction of new buildings, and the retro-fitting of existing ones, helping visitors to understand the commercial opportunities for designers, constructors and manufacturers.  Visitors to Ecobuild China will be able to make contacts with future business partners from the private sector, industry associations and government bodies as well as sourcing the latest technologies from both local and international suppliers.

Exhibitors at Ecobuild China are expected to include a wide range of local and international suppliers of low carbon technologies such as energy saving and efficiency products, solar panels, renewable energy and micro-generation, water management and efficiency, building services & management, building structures & materials and professional services & consultancy.

Ecobuild is the world’s largest exhibition dedicated to sustainable building products and is the fastest-growing trade event in the UK. Launched in 2004, the exhibition is held annually in March at London’s Excel Centre. It is the leading international marketing platform for suppliers of sustainable and innovative construction products and services. The show is attended by the most influential individuals and organizations in design and construction. The number of professionals visiting the event has grown from 6,100 in 2006 to more than 55,000 in 2011, when the event occupied floor space of 60,000 sq. m.

James Blue, Portfolio Director at UBM Built Environment said “China is without doubt the market with the largest potential for sustainable construction and the new 12th Five-Year Plan is putting great emphasis on it. We are excited that Shanghai will host the first of a series of planned launches around the world”.

Expo Build is the natural home for Ecobuild China. Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2012, Expo Build is the most comprehensive construction show in China, setting trends for design and construction techniques and showcasing the most innovative and premium products. It has been growing steadily and in 2011 attracted 482 Chinese and overseas exhibitors, who occupied a 51,750 sq. m. show area and 31, 037 professional visitors from 81 countries and regions. Expo Build is co-located with a variety of other product-based shows – including Hotelex and Mosaic & Stone China – in a 200,000 sq. m., four-day long extravaganza, attracting 100,000 visitors from China and around the world. Events during the week include the China International Building & Design Festival.
