Two heavyweights in the world of Apparel will feature at the forthcoming Prime Source Forum. Dr. William Fung, Group Managing Director of Li & Fung Ltd., will deliver the opening Keynote address "The World may be Flat but the Terrain is Rough: Global Sourcing in The Next Three Years". Based in Hong Kong, but global in operations, Li & Fung were among the first to open up China as a major sourcing platform. Their development parallels the history of the sourcing of apparel first in Hong Kong, then in China and today from all over the world.
Mr. Rufus Yerxa, Deputy Director General at the World Trade Organisation (WTO), will open the second day with a Special address outlining the industry's position to date from the perspective of the WTO.
Firmly established after just three years, Prime Source Forum fully lives up to its name as the annual meeting place for the 'movers and shakers' that make up the entire supply chain from raw material to finished product in the global apparel industry.
Some 45 panelists and moderators from 14 countries will lead the discussions which will range over the challenges and opportunites confronting the industry in today's changing economic and political environment.
Total involvement is the key to the success of the Forum and the expected 400 business leaders, government officials, academics and trade organisation officials from around the world will be encouraged to exchange ideas and challenge the views of the distinguished panelists.
Complimenting the main event (the Forum) an innovation will be the introduction of workshops on the afternoon (March 31) before the Forum opens. These workshops will deal with topical operational issues such as Sustainable Product Strategy, Radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Product Safety and Anti-dumping. The introduction of these workshops has stimulated great interest and readers who wish to learn more about them, should take action quickly to ensure their participation.
