Challenges & Solutions at Prime Source Forum

Senior executives from all sectors of the supply chain servicing the global apparel industry will be in Hong Kong for Prime Source Forum 2011, held at the Hong Kong Conference and Exhibition Centre, Wanchai, 30 March – 1 April.

Prime Source Forum is the definitive annual meeting of the global apparel industry and co-located with the APLF Materials, Manufacturing and Technology (MM&T) and Fashion Access (FA) trade fairs.

Just as recovery from the recent global economic crisis gets underway, the apparel sector is challenged by natural phenomena. As Japan is both a primary source of top level fabrics as well as a major retail market for luxury goods, the recent disaster is likely to affect the global apparel industry.  These hard times will pass but the industry will continue robustly. Proof is supplied by the fact that all Japanese exhibitors at MM&T and FA have confirmed their participation, demonstrating the importance for them to continue doing business. .

Undoubtedly, the workshops at PSF this year will incorporate Japan’s situation, from the standardisation workshop to the Forum panel discussions. Events include a sustainability workshop and panel sessions on the balance of trade, lessons learned and alternative sourcing in Asia.

Speakers include, Mr. Edwin Keh, former Senior VP, COO at Wal-Mart Global Procurement; Mr. Kevin Burke, President & CEO of American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA);  Mr. Markus Ferrigato, Head of Innovation, SWAROVSKI® ELEMENTS; Ms. Susan Jennion, Director, Product Development & Sourcing Global Denizen, Levi Strauss & Co.; Mr. Joachim Hensch, President, Intl Association of Clothing Designers and Executives, and Head of Pattern Design and Technical Development, HUGO BOSS AG; Mr. Ranjan Mahtani, CEO & MD, The Epic Group; and Mr. Pat-Nie Woo, Director, Central Textiles (HK) Ltd.; Chairman, Sustainable Fashion Business Consortium, Hong Kong.

A record number of registered delegates is expected, from major brands such as adidas, ACE Style, Ann Taylor, Benetton, The Children’s Place, Cortefiel, Guess?, Hugo Creation, Hugo Boss, ITC, Kohl’s, Levi’s, Li & Fung, Nike, Quiksilver and Swarovski Elements, and many more.

To add further value to Prime Source Forum, Prime Source Fashion Preview, a display of quality apparel located in the Theatre Foyer, will underscore further the importance of Hong Kong as a world-class apparel sourcing hub. Fashion models will present the collections of four participating companies illustrating the themes FashionCHIC, FashionFINE, FashionPURE, and FashionTECH.
