International presence and quality product at optimistic APLF fairs

Economic uncertainties were absent at the fair grounds of the concurrently held APLF - Materials, Manufacturing & Technology (MM&T) (www.mmt.aplf.com) and finished products fair Fashion Access. (www. fashionaccess.aplf.com) Both opened their doors yesterday to enthusiastic exhibitors and buyers.

Exhibitors at both APLF – MM&T and Fashion Access agreed that the first day attracted a satisfying number of buyers. "It's a good start to the event," said Rafael Andrade, coordinator of the CICB Brazilian Pavilion at APLF - MM&T.  He noted that buyers are encouraged by a stimulated economy and rising hide prices, which hint at possible continued price increases.

Buyer Mohamed Waheeduddin from Jild Impex Export-Import-Agency, India, commented on APLF - MM&T's international positioning. 'Business and consumer demand is a lot better this year. APLF - MM&T in Hong Kong provides product selection from China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Europe, and more," he said.  Fashion Access, too, is providing buyers choices from around the world according a first-time buyer from Russia.

The fairs’ global exhibitor numbers means a wide range of styles, as well as price points.  But, as APLF buyers have noticed - affordable goods don’t necessarily fall short on design.  "The last time I attended Fashion Access and MM&T was six years ago. I'm glad to see the improvements of Chinese products, especially the bags.  I’ve seen products with very good quality indeed," said buyer Fernando Sergio Peralta from VMC Cuero Argentino, Argentina.

Agreed Mr. Okushi from Sun Rich Co. who comes every year from Japan. He commented not only on a more positive business atmosphere by on the improved quality across the head-to-toe range of fashion products offered at Fashion Access.

Prominent among the numerous events alongside the fairgrounds was the inaugural Tannery of the Year Awards.  Ethiopia Tannery Share Company emerged as the first-ever winner.

Meanwhile, the workshops of Prime Source Forum went well under way. The Forum itself opens today with Mr. Andrew Wu from LVMH delivering the keynote speech.

Few other fair organisers offer a complete picture of the fashion industry as APLF’s synergistic 3-in-1 events. APLF - Materials, Manufacturing & Technology, Fashion Access and Prime Source Forum will run until tomorrow at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wanchai.
