Marintec China 2009 - 40% increase in size and attracted 20% more trade visitors to celebrate its 30th Anniversary 

Marintec China 2009, organised by UBM Asia (www.ubmasia.com), a subsidiary of United Business Media, and the Shanghai Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, was held from 1 – 4 December 2009 at Shanghai, for its 15th edition, 30th anniversary.

The 4-day exhibition and conference were unveiled together by the honourable officiating senior officials from the industry, namely, Mr. Zhu Hongren, Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; Mr. Xu Zuyuan, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Transportation; Mr. Zheng Huiqiang, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress; Mr. Qian Yongchang, President of China Communication and Transportation Association, Former Minister, Ministry of Communications, PRC; Mr. Zhang Guangqin, Chairman, China Association of National Shipbuilding Industry; Mr. Tan Zuojun, Vice President, China State Shipbuilding Corporation; Mr. Li Guoan, Vice President, The Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers; Mr. Troels Lund Poulsen, the Minister, Ministry of the Environment, Denmark; Ms. Eva Cheng, JP, Secretary for Transport and Housing, HKSAR and Mr. John Botts, Chairman, United Business Media Ltd.

Occupying five halls of the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, over 1,200 exhibiting companies met 42,689 visitors from around the world, a remarkable 20% increase compared to the last edition in 2007.
Witharound 7,000exhibitor personnel on the show floor as well it shows that Marintec is the exhibition to attend. Mrs Marjan Lacet, Export Manager,Asiaof HME said: Marintec is by far the best and largest maritime exhibition in Asia. The quality of visitors is extremely high. All the participants in the Holland Pavilion were very satisfied and positive about this edition. We surely will come back in 2011!” The extraordinary performance of the exhibition shows the world’s maritime industry that China is on the world stage. Marintec China has been renowned for its 30 years in the industry and has long been recognised by the industry as the most definitive maritime exhibition in Asia.

T
he thirst for market news was shown during the concurrent event – Senior Maritime Forum, held from 1-2 December 2009 at the Sofitel Shanghai Jin Jiang Oriental Pudong. The theme “Crisis, Challenges and Opportunities” was discussed by all the speakers at the Forum. The Forum was a full house and welcomed by the attendees that such insightful topics have been shared by a strong line-up of speakers from both the Chinese government and organisations and distinguished overseas associations and organisations.
